Lyde Hill Farm, Woodville, Stour Provost, Dorset

This is Lyde Hill Farm where Edwin and Anne Hiscock (great grandparents x3) lived and were recorded in census' 1851 to 1871. In 1881 Elijah Hiscock, Edwin and Anne's eldest son, was running the farm. My great (x2) grandfather Francis Rogers Hiscock was raised here.

Woodville Cottage, Stour Provost, Dorset

This is Woodville Cottage which is just opposite Lyde Hill Farm. Edwin Hiscock retired here and is recorded as living here in the 1881 census. The cottage is next to the school to which Edwin made a contribution when it was being built.

Violet Wareham (nee Hiscock)

This is my grandmother, Violet. The photograph was taken in the front room of 13 Christys Lane in Shaftesbury and the child is my cousin Rebecca. I think it was taken in about 1981/2, a year or two before my nan passed away.

Charles and Edith Emily (nee Hiscock) Harris

This photo was obviously taken at a wedding anniversary. Edith was my great x 2 aunt, my nan's aunt. They lost two of their sons in World War One (above).

Francis Rogers and Emily Hiscock?

This photo has almost certainly been confirmed as that of Francis and Emily Hiscock. This would probably have been taken not long before Francis died, late 1890's or the turn of the century.

Riman family?

We think this is probably Emily Hiscock's family - the Riman's of Woodcutts near Sixpenny Handley in Dorset. It could well be - back row Emily's father James, sister Ellen, Emily. Middle row brother Edwin, mother Sarah, grandfather Edward, grandmother Sarah. Front row sister Fanny, brother John sister Eliza. It could have been taken in teh late 1860's judging from the likely ages of the young children. As with the photo above this is not confirmed and any help anyone can give in removing doubt would be welcome.

Francis Rogers Hiscock

This is an enhanced copy (for the original see pictures page 4) of a photo of my great great grandfather. The photo is probably of him sometime between 1870 and 1880. Thanks to Bobbie Ambrose, another descendent, for this picture.

Francis Rogers Hiscock

Outside the Rose and Crown pub in Wimborne, Francis is the figure in front of the huge tree trunk. This may have been in the 1870's after Francis and Emily returned from the USA where they married. Whether this was before or during their time at Rookery Farm is unclear. I have a larger scan of this picture, please contact me if you want me to send it to you.
