This is the hamlet where Emily Riman (who married Francis Hiscock in 1871 in New York, USA) lived and where generations of her family lived from at least as far back as 1760.

Rogers family graves, Tisbury, Wiltshire

The tombs in the foreground of St Johns church at Tisbury are those of the Rogers family of Wick and Wickwood Farms.

Francis Rogers' grave, Tisbury, Wiltshire

This tomb (one on the right in the photo above) refers to Francis the son of Francis and Philippa Rogers. I think this is my great (x5) grandfather who died 1789. Only the left panel of this tomb is legible but I would not be surprised if Francis (died 1792) and Philippa (died 1808) are also buried here.

Wick Farm, Tisbury, Wilts

I believe my great x 7 generation grandparents John and Mary Rogers held this farm because in his 1705 will John refers to himself as of 'Wick' and a yeoman farmer. His son and grandson both held 'Wickwood Farm'.

Wickwood Farm, Tisbury

This farm is mentioned in my ancestor Francis Roger's will in 1792 and held by the Rogers family from 1723 to after 1795, possibly earlier.

Grave of John and Mary Rogers, Tisbury, Wilts

Lying in front of another later Rogers grave is the grave of John (died 1705) and wife Mary Rogers (died 1720). John and Mary were, I believe, my great (x8) grandparents and in his will of 1705 says he was a farmer at Wick in Tisbury.

St John's Church, Enmore Green, Shaftesbury

A few of my ancestors are buried here, including on the Hiscock side John and wife Martha Morgan in 1913 and 1888.

Horseponds, Enmore Green, Shaftesbury

My great grandfather John Morgan was living here between 1871 and 1901. He was a labourer.

Haimes Lane, Shaftesbury

Formerly called Mill Lane it was changed to Haimes Lane after my great x 8/9 grandparents John Haime who held the mill in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Great x 6 grandfather John Haime was a Methodist preacher and soldier and friend of the Wesleys (see related documents).

Magdalene Lane, Shaftesbury, Dorset

My great x 5 grandmother Edith Foot (nee King) was living here in the 1841 and 1851 censuses. It was then called Maudlin Lane. Edith was a widow to husband Thomas who died 1804. Edith died 1852 aged 96 and is buried at Holy Trinity as was Thomas.

Millers Cottage, Angel Lane, Shaftesbury

Did the Haimes family live here or did it takes it's name from later millers? It is just around the corner from Haimes Lane where they had the Mill and just down the road from the old bakery (which was still a bakery when I was growing up and where my dad was employed at some time).
