Many months of hard work by your local
District Councillors, Jeremy Nettle,
Sheila Warrander and Patrick Paisey
combined with input from your new
County Councillor, Mary Douglas, have
finally paid off!
Mary Douglas arranged a meeting on 6th
June with David Thomas of the Salisbury
Joint Transportation Team to discuss
this, together with Jeremy Nettle and
Sheila Warrander. Mr Thomas put
forward for Councillors’ approval a
solution which ensured that there was
not double parking at any point along
the stretch of Stratford Road alongside
Victoria Park. Councillors were happy
to give their approval, and understand
it will be implemented within weeks.
This has been able to proceed so
swiftly because it is an Experimental
Traffic Order. Limited consultation is
required, with elected Members. After
being advertised in the local paper,
the Order can be implemented
immediately. Members of the public
have up to 18 months to give their
comments. After 6 months, the Order is
reviewed with elected Members, to
decide whether to accept it as
permanent, continue it as experimental,
or remove it altogether.
Your local councillors are delighted
with the outcome and look forward to
smooth traffic flow past the Grammar
School!
