2009 Protecting the Pavilion in Hampton Park

Community Centre
We all know how important it is to have a community centre – the ‘centre of our community’. The Pavilion is used by, among others, the Pre-School, Guides and Brownies, Youth Club, Cricket Club and various Keep Fit clubs and has been faithfully run for many years by the Pavilion Management Committee.

At risk?
Two key members of this committee have recently expressed their desire to stand down and I was contacted by the Chair of the Bishopdown Farm Residents Association (BFRA), John Seymour, to help find new members for this committee, without which we would not have the use of this centre.

New group set up
I am delighted to say that, after much discussion with Cllr Kevin Cardy, myself and other members of the BFRA, John Seymour and the Parish Council have set up a steering group to take on responsibility for the Pavilion.

Get involved
If you would like to volunteer to help with the books, or to be involved in any way, please contact Steve Hannath (t) 326714 (e) stevehannath@talktalk.net.
