Always have union representation when meeting with a manager regarding your sensory problem and work. Even if they do not speak on your behalf they are able to take accurate notes, leaving you free to concentrate on the proceedings.

Your union may have problems in dealing witha visual or hearing impaired nurse. Most long term medical problems in nurses tend to be musculo-skeletal. These nurses tend to be put on light physical duties - which generally involves reading, writing and answering the telephone! Therefore, do not expect your union representative to have all the answers.
