AGENCIES

In order to stay at work, you need to be proactive. There appears to be little knowledge within the nursing field as to the employment of visual or hearing impaired nurses.

Your 'best friend' is knowledge. By contacting the following agencies you will discover there is help available. However, only you know how severe is your sensory impairment and therefore how much help you need.

By being proactive you will also demonstrate to your employers that you are serious about continuing as a clinical practitioner. Remember your employer will be struggling to know what you can and cannot do.

As a nurse you are accountable and responsible for your actions. Although it may be a difficult choice to make you have to stop working as a clinical practitioner before you are a danger to patients and staff.
