EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY POLICY

As an easy going, relaxed, friendly and informal group we have never yet had to address any issue of an Equal Opportunity nature. However, some of the agencies with whom we have dealings insist that we must have a formal Equality and Diversity Policy - so here it is:

POLICY

FOHS is committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and diversity to ensure equality of opportunity for all participants. FOHS is open to all members of the public, regardless of colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, religion, beliefs, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, disability, age, gender re-assignment or political beliefs.

FOHS opposes all forms of unlawful discrimination on the grounds of colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, religion, sexuual orientation, sex, marital status, disability, age, gender re-assignment or political beliefs.

As an equal opportunities body, FOHS will not tolerate direct or indirect discrimination and disadvantage. We will also take every possible step to ensure that individuals are treated equally and fairly.

All participants of FOHS are expected to take a personal responsibility in the implementation of equal opportunities in their day to day dealings with other members of the public and other FOHS participants.

OUR COMMITMENT

To create an environment in which individual differences and the contributions of all participants are recognised and valued.

To ensure that equality and diversity form an integral part of all FOHS policies, practices and procedures. These will be regularly reviewed to ensure fairness.

To entitle every participant to participate in an environment that promotes dignity and respect to all. No form of bullying or harassment will be tolerated.

To make reasonable adjustments when and where required to meet the needs of people with disabilities, and where practicable to ensure that all services are accessible to disabled people.

Breaches of this equality and diversity policy will be regarded as misconduct and could lead to participants being asked to end their involvement with FOHS.

IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING

Responsibility for implementation of this policy lies with the Chair of FOHS. We will ensure that the policy is available to all participants and we will periodically review how the policy is advertised, to ensure that all sections of the community are aware of it.
