St Marys and St Michaels churches Fete

THE 2014 FETE WILL BE IN June 2014. Further details nearer the time.

report by Pam Hall

ANOTHER FANTASTIC FETE

Where did you all come from?

It was truly wonderful to see so many families supporting us, and we sincerely hope you all had a very enjoyable time. It was a dull start to the day and the wonderful people who came along to help set up the field prayed very hard that the fine drizzle would not change to the heavy deluge we experienced last year, and thankfully it more or less remained fine for the afternoon.

The procession this year was extremely well supported with more floats and people taking part, and were well looked after by the MOD Police and our own Marshals.

With the opening of the Fete things got under way with the very enjoyable music played by the Wilton Royal British Legion Band who entertained us throughout the afternoon.

Moving around the field you were able to try your luck with a Lucky Dip, and take part in the Duck Race. Buy a Home Made Cake, try your luck at the Bottle Stall, pick up a bargain at the Bric a Brac, buy a plant, or choose a book and toy.

If by this time you were feeling hungry the choice was the delicious Hog Roast, a Hot Dog, or an Ice Cream.

If feeling weary you could wander into the Hall for a sit down and a Slice of Home Made Cake and a cup of tea all provided by our wonderful team of Helpers. After a rest you could then enjoy yourself on the Bouncy Slide, and as you wandered around again there were lots of other games to try your luck at.

In the arena this year the Colton Dancing Academy entertained us and a big thank you to them all. Terry Lodge and Bill Sivewright organised the children’s races and then we all waited with bated breath for the Return of the Red Barrows. During all of this our compere Roger Morgan kept everything going.

We finished the day with the Draw for the Raffle which is all donated by the many shops and Inns in this area and to them all we say a huge thank you.

The success of the day is down to everyone who came, gave so generously, helped to run or organise a stall, and for this we say a very HUGE THANKYOU for supporting us once again.
