Background
I have lived in Salisbury for 13 years with my husband. We have twins, now grown-up, both of whom attended the local grammar schools. I worked for IBM before taking a career break to raise my children and subsequently worked in a secondary school. I am a committed Christian, an active member of a local church and have worked as a volunteer with Wiltshire Parenting. I strongly believe that families are absolutely central to our society and I also want to encourage older people to engage more with the younger generations.
From 2005 - 2009, I was a County Councillor for St Marks and Bishopdown, serving on the Cabinet with responsibility for Children and Families, then Adult Social Care and, finally, Culture. More recently, I have served as Chair of the Salisbury Area Board and on the Vision for Salisbury Board and City Centre Management Partnership.
I currently chair Wiltshire SACRE
(Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education) and am a member of the Southern Planning Committee, the Diocesan Board of Education and the Children’s Services Select Committee. I represent Wiltshire Council on the Board of a Housing Association and as an 'observer' on the Salisbury International Arts Festival Board. I am a Governor of St Mark's Junior School, where I chair the Curriculum Committee.
