A Joint Effort

Great Minds Think Alike. Volunteers from the Salisbury Wildlife Group of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust joined forces with volunteers from FOHS for a hard day's graft in gravelling the top section of a much used path on Harnham Slope. All in all, during the day volunteers shovelled, barrowed, shovelled again and stamped down about 8 tons of gravel. Not everybody could stay all day, so folk came and went as their busy lives required. By mid afternoon, the end product made all the arm ache very satisfying, and hopefully many folk who enjoy walking the Slope will now be less fearful of slipping when conditions are damp and dismal. It was a great day, with lots of laughter, leg-pulling and friendly banter. If you'd like to be involved in this sort of effort in a friendly, casual, non-pressured way, please get in touch with the Friends of Harnham Slope. The more folk like you who are willing to give a bit of time, effort and energy occasionally, means the more that can be achieved to improve the area for all who use it - be they humans or wildlife.
