November 2010 Salisbury Area Board Update

Salisbury Area Board meets about six times a year. Its main purpose is to enable the people of Salisbury to come together and tackle the issues which none of us can solve on our own.

Community Area Grants
The Board also gives out around £78,000 a year in grants to local community projects. So far this year, it has helped fund Salisbury Street Pastors, Harnham Memorial Hall, Taxi Marshals, the conversion of St John’s Church in Lower Bemerton to a community centre, YNM Creative Juice arts event for young people, Bemerton Bike Club, Casa de Samba dance classes in Sarum Academy, the Lanterns project, Dance Aware and the Big Project encouraging young people to engage with the local community.

£££ Would you like funding for your work with young people?
Salisbury Area Board has £7,825 to spend on local activities for young people. They are especially keen to hear from smaller groups who might not normally seek council funding.

How can I get involved?
Do please come along to a meeting of the Area Board and have your say! The next meeting is on 30th November, 7pm at the Methodist Church Hall.
