Carnival Week Events Wilton Town, near Salisbury in Wiltshire is the ancient capital of Wessex and has much local history and has had a Summer Carnival in the Town for many years. This year, the COMMUNITY CARNIVAL will be better than ever and promises to get everyone involved. There will be a series of events throughout the week culminating in the Grand Carnival Procession on Saturday 5th July 2008. The Procession begins at 1.30pm and travels through the Town to Castle Meadows where there will be a fun packed afternoon of entertainments. PROGRAMME of EVENTS Friday 27th and Saturday 28th June Cole's Fun Fair in the Square. Sunday 29th June 2008 Guided Walk through Wilton - 2.30pm Songs of Praise - 6.00pm Free Wilton Parish Church. 7.00pm Family Walking Treasure Hunt Monday 30th June 8.00pm Free Local History Talk about Music Hall Pub Quiz with maps at The Bear. Tuesday 1st July 2008 Fashion Show Wednesday 2nd July 2008 Jeremy Strong Children's Author 3.00pm Pub Quiz at the Greyhound 8.00pm Thursday 3rd July 2008 Coffee & Books 10am The Bear Unplugged - acoustic music 8.00pm Friday 4th July 2008 7.30pm Carnival Bingo at Community Centre 7.30pm. USA Independence Day with country band at the Wheatsheaf. 7.30pm Saturday 5th July 2008 Procession leaves The Hollows at 1.30pm and goes through the town to Castle Meadows Fun Day. The Procession Open to all classes, from walking to motorised floats We already have a large number of entrants. Theme is "Nursery Rhymes" Please contact us for entry forms Castle Meadows Fun Day 2.00pm - 5.30pm Free A host of entertainments and stalls to offer: Oi Sambastita Samba Band, Wilton Youth Band, Silly O-Limp-Piks Punch & Judy, Knights in armour, face painting, classic cars, car boot sale, stalls, bar and food, BBQ, charity stalls, games and fairground rides for the children.
