Welcome to Wilton Community Carnival Website. Please keep calling back
Wilton is a small town just outside Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. It is actually much older than Salisbury; settlements go back to the 11th Century and it was once the Ancient Capital of Wessex. Wilton still retains this title!
Wilton Community Carnival takes place every year and also has a long and ancient history. The Community Carnival Week takes place in the Town between 25th June - 4th July 2010. There will be a week of exciting events for everyone including a Fun Fair, Walk around Wilton Rivers, Special Songs of Praise, Pub Quizzes, and of course Carnival Bingo. The Carnival Day is Saturday 3rd July 2010 and starts off with an ITALIAN MARKET in the Square from 9.00am. This event is organsied by Wiltshire Council. Then there will be a Grand Procession with a "Green" Theme through the Town. It will start at 12.30pm and feature The Mayor of Wilton and visiting Wiltshire Mayors from Salisbury, Amesbury, Devizes, Trowbridge and Warminster, the wonderful Casa de Salsa Band and Des Kays Amazing Giant Bicycle. There is no Carnival Queen this year, but in keeping with the green theme we are having "WilCrows" living scarecrows instead. The procession will walk to Castle Meadows for a "Green Fair" fun afternoon of events and activities. Castle Meadow will provide a FREE afternoon of great family entertainments including many green organisations like COGs, Agenda 21, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Wildlife Rescue. SPIRE FM broadcasting live. It will also feature Casa de Salsa Band, Des Kays Amazing Answer to Everything Machine Puppet Show, Wilton Royal British Legion Band, the British Plate Armour Society - battling knights, clowns, face painters, classic cars, fairground rides and children's races, inflatables and Punch and Judy with Ticklish Allsorts, Looni Ballooni balloon modeller, food, bar and stalls and car boots sales! Wow! There will be a Grand Raffle in aid of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust's Langford Lakes Appeal. The afternoon's grand finale is the fantastic young covers band The Deloreons. We finish off the day with a BBQ and Live Band at The Greyhound from 8.00pm. More to come - can you believe it?...keep calling back.
