North's Boys

This image was provided by Chris Boyles a local historian in West Somerset.

Chris thinks this image shows two of the North boys standing either side of brother & sister Charlie & Annie Hagley at Combe Farm, Withycombe. As he states: "It's sadly not of very good quality, probably taken on the boys' "Box Brownie" camera, perhaps even processed by themselves. I suspect that it is them because I have another photo obviously taken on the same roll of film on the same occasion, on the back of which is written "taken by C. North, June 1919". I also have a very distant shot of "the North boys" atop a hayrick, from which one can just about discern a likeness to these two."

North lived here after the turn of the century following the death of his wife Selina.

The house overlooks the churchyard. It was built on the site of the old village pub that had been destroyed by fire.
