John Maddocks Jazzmen - 8th January 2016

More than 70 people braved the rain to listen and dance to the John Maddocks Jazz Men who were making a return visit after their near sell-out performance in November last year.

During the evening John and the band played 'Lull at Dawn' in memory of clarinet player Johnny Rodgers who died on 3rd January.

Jools & The Jazzaholics - 11th March 2016

What a night! This fabulous band kept us entertained all evening with plenty of numbers for the dancers too. 'I Found a New Baby', a feature for John Maddocks with a superb solo from each member of the rhythm section, brought the crowd to its feet - something rarely seen at SJC.

New Orleans Z'Hulus - 8th April 2016

The New Orleans Z'Hulus made a welcome return to the club during their UK tour and entertained an audence of more than 80 people. We were especially delighted to welcome twelve of these who were making their first visit to the club.

Dart Valley Stompers - 13th May 2016

Too fast and too loud is probably the best way to sum up this evening's entertainment, but it was encouraging to see so many 'young' people in the audience enjoying themselves.

Summer Solstice Ball - 3rd June 2016

The Summer Solstice ball was a great success and enjoyed by 75 guests. The Sussex Jazz Kings played a perfect programme for the occasion.

Cuff Billett's New Europa Jazz Band - 8th July

Another great session at the club. Cuff and his band kept the dancers on the floor all night, playing many jazz standards including Tuxedo Rag which had been requested by two members of the audience.

.Tim Eyles' Gentlemen of Jazz provided the entertainment for this evening which was ideal for those preferring to sit back and listen rather than dance. The highlight for most people was the superb solo by Colin who played a captivating 'Sunny Side of the Street' reminiscent of the great Lester Young.
