South Wiltshire Primary Care Trust was formed on 1 April 2001, reflecting the Government aim that health improvement and health services should be planned, commissioned and delivered by organisations that are as close to the local population as possible.
Within the Primary Care Trust’s boundaries, there are 22 GP practices, three Community Health Clinics and one District Hospital serving a population of some 120,000 people. The Primary Care Trust is coterminous with the Salisbury District Council boundary and also includes the Netheravon and Upavon wards of Kennet District Council.
