Assessing the Progress

At the end of the previous Parish and Town Council Liaison Meeting the Chief Executive outlined 7 key commitments from Salisbury District Council to the Parish and Town Councils.
  1. Community Web Development
    – www.southwilts.com is now here !
  2. Planning Portal
    – The Invest to Save Bid was successful in winning £1.25million to aid in developing an e-enabled planning system. More information can be found here

  4. Code of Conduct Consultation
    – The Parish and Town Council Code of Conduct has been introduced and, after some initial upheaval, is now bedding in well.
  5. Code of Conduct Training
    – Three training days for the Code of Conduct were very well attended by concerned Parish and Town Councillors.
  6. The Paper Mountain
    – As e-government develops, it is difficult to gauge it’s effect on the quantity of paper and postage needed. However, the offer of setting up a working group to look at the levels and systems of paper and postage still stands.
  7. FASTRACK Planning Applications
    - A FASTRACK report went to every Area Committee but however it continues to evolve. New proposals will go out for consultation in August. More information can be found here.
  8. Planning Consultation
    - SDC remain willing to discuss any issues that Parishes and Town Councils feel will make public consultation more effective.
