A picture for Wiltshire-Wildlife-Conservation-Volunteers

Hello! Welcome to the Wiltshire Wildlife Conservation Volunteers program of conservation tasks for 2007 - 2008. Volunteers meet on Saturdays and Sundays, and occasionally during the week, to carry out a wide range of work that helps to maintain and improve conditions for wildlife in Wiltshire. Work includes using traditional tools and skills to enhance the Wiltshire landscape. No previous practical experience is necessary. Just come along and we will provide the help and training you need. Tasks are open to anyone. They provide a great opportunity to develop new skills, make new friends and learn more about management of the countryside.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION HEALTH. Please ensure you have up-to- date tetanus cover. WHAT TO BRING. We provide tools, strong gloves and training. All you need to bring is a packed lunch and plenty to drink (as most tasks last all day) and plenty of enthusiasm! FOOTWEAR. We recommend Wellington boots or safety boots (ideally with steel toe caps) for most tasks, and walking boots or safety boots for working on steep downland sites. TRANSPORT. If you would need a lift, please contact the contacts given on this page, who will be able to tell you about possible help with transport. WWCV tasks are open to all, but those under 16 MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult. INSURANCE. Volunteers are covered by insurance.

WEEKDAY TASKS During the summer months, tasks such as keeping nature trails clear, maintaining seats and steps, removing fallen branches etc. are carried out. These do not warrant a volunteer task for a whole day and cannot be organised weeks or months ahead. Volunteers who are free on weekdays carry out these tasks when necessary. If you would like to help, please contact the contacts given on this page for more information. FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROGRAM Contact: Geoff Parsons, Telephone: 01225 774540
