Endemic Problem ?

A picture for Where Angels Fear to Tread

WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD.
August is usually the silly season so far as news reporting goes. This particular week of the month we have not only the Olympic Games but too that horrific aeroplane crash in Madrid, may their God rest those Passenger and Crew souls and comfort , both their families and friends.

Is not the misfortune of one aeroplane enough, that the Media has to treat us to the oft illustrated meanderings of other aeroplanes flying respectively between Korea-Thailand-Hong Kong- Thailand and Heathrow London? That which might be of legitimate interest to reader’s of ‘Aviation Weekly’ seems to touch on prurience if read elsewhere. Were the self righteous supposed to mobilise and throw tomatoes at the passengers of that incoming plane, or just at those identifiable as Paediatricians or alleged paedophiles whose time was spent?

That the Media, metaphorically but hypocritically ‘casts the first stone’ smacks of the Pot calling the Kettle black. Levels of Pornography persist from the Broad Sheet to the top shelf, to much of it, the hitherto unmentionable has become but a common currency. Reportage is one thing but apparent incitation to invidiousness another.

Unfortunately the sexual abuse of children pre-dates both the gutter Press and the Internet, however there upon is an informative piece from NSPCC

Who in our midst has not heard of , or possibly suffered as a child, sexual abuse by those set in authority over us. Abuse often enough perpetrated by God fearing persons each seemingly unaware of that Christian precept relating to Millstones.*

Who is naïve enough to differentiate between the formalised corporal punishment that persisted in English Schools until quite recently and the sado-masochism currently commercially available to those of such inclination; nor would doubt that as ever was so, the one is the father of the other.

*‘But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.’ Mathew 18:5-6
