Exciting things are happening in Tisbury!

The introduction of one council for Wiltshire in April 2009 will see some important changes to the way local services are managed in the Tisbury area. A local community board will be formed bringing together your new unitary councillors, parish councils, and representatives from the major public services such as the Police and Health. In effect this will be a 'one stop democracy shop' where all local decisions will be made and where you can have your say about any local issue.

Working alongside the board will be an independent local partnership with much wider participation - including local businesses, organisations and individuals. The partnership will work to identify local priorities and issues that need to be addressed in the area. It will promote local projects that aim tro tackle these issues. The partnership will work to support parish councils and help them deliver projects with resources and professional support. The community board will have funding to support these projects and, impportantly, the partnership and local parishes will be able to challenge the board if fails to act.

This is an exciting new way of managing local services, putting the community firmly in the driving seat. You can read more about this project on these pages and by following the links that we have included.
