Village Hall

VILLAGE HALL At a meeting of the Village Hall Management Committee in June, there was an annual review of letting charges. Mainly due to an increase of 1/3rd in the price of heating oil compared to a year ago, and the likelihood of further price increases this year, the Committee reluctantly felt it necessary to put up the hire charges by £1 per hour. Based on the lettings for the year ended 31.03.05, this will just cover the increased heating costs. The charges for hiring the Hall from the 1st July will be as follows: East Knoyle Residents Main Hall £8/hour Billiard Room £7/hour Others £12/hour / £10/hour Weddings, Dances, Discos & Parties: £60 including the Billiard Room for 4 hours. Thereafter the hourly rate is applied. RESIDENTS: Children's and family parties charged at the Residents' hourly rate. Hire includes electricity (apart from kitchen sockets) use of crockery, chairs and tables. The minimum charge is for 2 hours and at least one week's notice must be given in writing to cancel a booking; otherwise, full cost must be paid unless another let is found. Hopefully, heating oil prices and lettings will mean that these prices will also apply for 2006.
