THINGS AINT WHAT THEY USED TO BE.

SOUTHERN ELECTRICITY. Its Guesstimate time again at Scottish and Southern Electricity. Our bill a mere £30.88 over charged. Not an horrendous amount, one that might even- out next time around, but if this amount is added to all the other incorrect guesstimates such a sum would provide a considerable interest free loan to the shareholders of SSE.
At a time one is encouraged to pay for such Services by direct debit, Heaven forbid doing any such thing. A while back persons were employed to read ones electric, (Gas,) and Water Meters on a quarterly basis. Maybe one should revert to those ways of the West Hants Electricity Company who used once to supply our Electricity here.

WATER WORKS
A couple of years back I made the disastrous decision in these days of ‘Conscious Decoupling’ to have a Water Meter installed, but would not advise anyone else to do the same. One was told that of an Arbitrary Sum of money would be collected from ones Bank Account every month.Seemingly we two are charged three times as much for the water as are our neighbours. How fortunate we are to be 'Riparian Owners', maybe we should reactivate our old ‘Butter Well.’ and pay nothing.

NADDER CIRCUMSTANCE.
The County had that Bridge over the Nadder at Quarry Lane, Upper Chicks grove , scanned this week by a laser instrument costing I was advised £45,000. Seemingly thousands of images are recorded, which when fed into a computer provide a fully manoeuvrable image of the Bridge from every angle. A layman might wonder whether this listed bridge will be repaired or whether it will be necessary to replace the whole structure . That would be a great pity, but the Chicksgrove Quarry and the Railway Access encourage exceedingly heavy loads down Quarry Lane. Maybe the County should have ensured that there was an alternative access to the Quarry before granting permission to reopen the place. I recall that the Parish Council were in favour of more employment in Tisbury, albeit not at Station Works.

OUTREACH . Hasn’t been acquiring Brownie Points of late in the vicinity of the Quarry Lane Rail crossing. Something there about having deprived one householder of a telephone for weeks on end, despite a succession of Over-reached telephone engineers. Where now the man with a bicycle, and a leather strap he’d use for shinning up telegraph poles?

The Main Picture is that of the famed Wyndham Wild Girls.
