Downton Link Details
Your local Link Scheme… is a team of local volunteers who offer help with transport and being good neighbours for people in need, regardless of age or circumstances, in complete confidence. Link is organised by a committee of local people who manage the running of the Scheme.
|
The Service is available for… anyone living in |
Transport is available for… hospital, surgery, dental and optician appointments, visiting a friend or relative in hospital, shopping for people who are housebound, social visits, collecting pensions, prescriptions, library books etc. We require 48 hours notice for transport requests to local hospitals. Payment… There is no charge, but the Link Scheme depends on donations from its users, to help run the service. Link volunteers receive a mileage allowance, and we look to these donations to meet our transport costs.
We also provide Caring... Making contact with Social Services, advice on keeping warm in cold weather, provide local information, and give company and conversation. We can also help with official forms, changing light bulbs, changing library books, reading meters etc.
Yes, we need Volunteers … We are always happy to hear from local people who are willing to become a Link Good Neighbour Volunteer, and help in the care of our community.
