The village of Broad Chalke holds an annual Flower Show and Fete on the first Saturday in August. This year it will be held on 4th August at the Chalke Valley Sports Centre, close to the new school.
Although vegetable and fruit growing seems to be on the wane, in the Chalke Valley there are a number of stalwarts who grow very fine produce indeed.
We are seeking a local judge for for the vegetable and fruit classes. The ideal person would be someone who has a lot of experience of growing their own produce and who has perhaps entered shows with it. However, you do not have to be qualified. It is becoming harder and harder to find judges for small, traditional shows like ours. We would be very grateful if anyone out there could help in this regard.
