About Cllr Bobbie Chettleburgh

Image 1 for About Cllr Bobbie Chettleburgh I have lived in Salisbury since 1958 and been involved with Local Council since 1995, previously I ran a local shop with my husband Malcolm. We have been married for 46 years; we have one Daughter and 4 Grandchildren.

Previously I was a salisbury District Councillor and County Councillor and following local government re- organisation in April 2009, I am now elected as City Councillor for Salisbury St. Martin's and Cathedral Ward.

Salisbury City Council: In June 2009 I was elected and made Mayor for the city of Salisbury. My main responsibility as a Mayor is to chair the Full council meetings; I also attend various events throughout the year on behalf of the City. I also have a Mayor’s Appeal, this year the chosen charity is Children’s Chance.

I am a member of the Vision for Salisbury steering group because I feel so passionately that Salisbury’s Vision is to protect our beautiful architecture and prevent future developments that could be detrimental to the City.

In my spare time I am an active member of St Thomas Church and supporting faith in the community. During my mayoral year in 2003/2004 I raised funds for a book of remembrance for all the men and women that fell in the first and 2nd World Wars plus consecutive Battles.

The book can be seen in the City Parish church, St Thomas's in Salisbury. We raised £23,000- this amount covered the cost of the book and £10,000 went to the repair the fabric of the church. www.stthomassalisbury.co.uk

I feel it is a great honour that has been bestowed upon me by the city to be the first elected councillor to stand as mayor twice.

If you would like me to attend your event, please contact Barry Pritchard – Clerk to the Mayor on 01722 710079 or email.
