This site contains some of the pages from a book that has been kept in my family. It belonged to my Great Grandfather and is essentially a record of his time in the army from 1883.
But it also contains contemporary newspaper cuttings of things that were of interest at the time. One set of cuttings intrigued me and when I Googled the names I discovered the Heroine of Manipur. This turned out to be a fascinating tale of female heroism in deepest India. She wrote a book about her adventures that became a best seller. It can be seen and read in Google books.
