This free event will give Salisbury residents an opportunity to learn more about the charity and how they can get involved and to meet a guide dog owner and other local volunteers. The event is being held as part of an appeal for volunteers in Salisbury. The volunteering roles are flexible and offer local people the opportunity to make new friends, develop new skills, learn about Guide Dogs' work and meet some of the amazing dogs the charity trains.
Sharon Heard, Regional Volunteering Coordinator for Guide Dogs said: "There are so many ways to volunteer. In particular we are looking for people that can give the odd hour to help on collections in and around Salisbury. Volunteering is fun and rewarding - you know you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people."
The Guide Dogs service is entirely funded by voluntary donations, and needs support from
volunteers to maximise its services for blind and partially-sighted people. The Red Lion Hotel is kindly hosting this event free of charge. Anyone interested in volunteering for Guide Dogs is invited to attend the Salisbury event and should email sharon.heard@guidedogs.or g.uk or call 07920 285752 to reserve a place. Those who are unable to attend the event but would like more information on volunteering should contact Guide Dogs' Volunteering Team on 0845 371 7771 or by emailing: volunteer @guidedogs.org.uk
