Wilton is a small town just outside Salisbury in Wiltshire, England. It is actually much older than Salisbury; settlements go back to the 11th Century and it was once the Ancient Capital of Wessex. Wilton still retains this title!
Wilton Community Carnival takes place every year and also has a long and ancient history. The Community Carnival Week takes place in the Town this year between 27th June - 5th July 2008. There will be a week of exciting events for everyone including a Fun Fair, historic walk around Wilton, special Songs of Praise, Treasure Hunt, Pub Quiz with maps, Local History Talk on Music Hall, Fashion Show at EWM, Jeremy Strong Author, Pub Quiz at the Greyhound, Bingo, and Live Country Band at the Wheatsheaf. The Carnival Day is Saturday 5th July 2008 when there will be a Grand Procession through the Town starting at 1.30pm and proceeding to Castle Meadows for a fun afternoon of events and activities. Special this year - Wilt- ing Silly O-Limp-ics! Castle Meadow will host The British Plate Armour Society - battling knights, clowns, face painters, classic cars, fairground rides and children's shows, Wilton & District Youth Band, Oi Sambistas Samba Band,
Tae Kwon Do, Looni Ballooni balloon modeller, Punch and Judy, food, bar and stalls and car boots, Agenda 21 and Wildlife Rescue! The afternoon's grand finale is the fantasic Beatles tribute band "Beatles For Sale" More to come...keep calling back.
