Whats On
This seems to have always been a sparsely populated thoroughfare and the name is possibly derived from the Saxon word ‘Higid’ for ‘Hide’ – an area of land considered large enough to support one family.
There are two properties in Hyde Lane, one on the North side and one on the south, both of which appear to be named 'The Bungalow'
A now demolished cottage and smallholding on the south side of the lane was last occupied by Tom Sainsbury.
A number of properties in Marie Avenue, Elizabeth Close, Crossways Close and The Headlands also have pedestrian and vehicular accesses on to Hyde Lane.
