The will of eccentric surgeon Thomas
Sheffield requested that on his death
he be buried in the garden of his
house, near Waterside, and that his
favourite horse should eventually be
buried with him. In 1807 his body was
exhumed and reburied with that of his
wife in the churchyard. During more
