Tisbury's One Foundation.

A picture for TISBURY AMALGAMATED PARISHES

'TISBURY' NEITHER EAST NOR WEST. One reads in the Tisbury Parish Council Minutes that Tisbury Parish Council favours the amalgamation of Tisbury and West Tisbury Parish Councils, but would be happy to proceed on the basis of a land swap. One might wonder in the latter circumstance why the rural community of West Tisbury would be treated differently to the rural community of Upper Chicksgrove on the neglected Eastern Boundary of Tisbury Parish, some two and a half miles away from Beatons Tea room ? Yet again one wonders concerning the deliberations of Tisbury Parish Council . If it has a preference,go for it, rather than shilly shally, by so doing devaluing its own part in the consultation process. West Tisbury Parish Council hasn't had a Parish Council Election for years. If one looks it up on its web site it has no named Parish Councillors. Seemingly but two of them have any interests to declare on the County Council Web Site. Such detachment does not inhibit its Parish Council from wishing to be consulted over Tisbury Parish Affairs.

' No taxation without representation, suggests that there should be no consultation without taxation.'

Between them the two existing Parishes have two paid Parish Clerks, and some twenty Councillors, over both Parishes more unelected to Office than have been elected. So many Councillors are not justified, so the amalgamation of the two Parishes would be a fine opportunity to prune their number. If a new Parish was so minded there would seem to be no reason to preclude it being a two ward Parish, thus ensuring that the old Parishes areas were each represented, albeit it not by members of the Tisbury Business Association. This is the entry in the Tisbury Parish Minutes.Apart from the two West Tisbury Councillors named on the Wiltshire Register of Interests, are its other Councillors so rural as to be 'Men or women of Straw.'
