A visit to the Swindon and Cricklade Heritage Railway on 2nd July 2011 was organised by Margaret Fay and John Watts drove the mini-bus there and back. SWIAS members spent a very busy and pleasurable day looking around here. They had a chance to view the progress on a grand project to recreate a Victorian train using rescued and renovated coaches. They also learnt about progress in the plans to recreate a Victorian steam loco to pull the coaches. There were also many additional interests at the site including a WW2 museum. A full description of the day will be in the next issue of the Society’s Search publication for members. Picture taken by Margaret Fay (click to enlarge).
