Whats On
We may not be the biggest WI in Wiltshire, but we think we are the liveliest! Membership varies from 45 to 65, with women aged 20+ to 80+, and our interests include going to the theatre, playing whist and skittles, and improving things in our own village.
Every other year we run a big Craft and Produce Show ('cos we love showing off what we do!), and you'll also meet us at village shows, fairs and other events. We were the first Wiltshire WI to have our own email address, and now we are the first (we think) to have a web site. Have a wander round it! Shrewton is a medium-sized village exactly halfway between Salisbury and Devizes, and older than either. (Our oldest resident currently resides in a glass case in South Wilts Museum, and is as old as Stonehenge.) Our village isn't chocolate-box pretty, but it's full of life and smashing people, and we love it.
Our president is Wendy Trevennor. Also on Wiltshire Federation Executive Committee, where she is chairman of Home Economics and editor of the county newsletter, she was elected in April 2008. A mother of two and grandmother, she is also involved with the parish magazine. Wendy heads a committee of nine who all have different talents to bring to the WI and all do their bit to make it a success. Then there are the off- committee helpers who run other committees or sports teams...and the ladies who make the tea...not to mention the general membership. Why not come along and meet us?
