Advantages of Association membership

For an anual membership fee of £24.00 we offer the following facilities:-

Training: Every new beekeeper is encouraged to learn more about his/her bees and become confident in handling their charges. (see web page for further details).

Library: An extensive library is available, containing books from beginners to specialist standard, that can be borrowed at no cost for home reading.

Loan equipment: Modern stainless steel honey extraction equipment can be borrowed free of charge, on payment of a deposit, to cope with the honey crop in your early years. Most beekeepers buy their own when they have the experience and can decide what they need.

Insurance: a) members are insured through the BBKA for public liability. b) members are covered for loss of bees and equipment due to certain notifiable diseases (three hives are covered free of charge, extra cover can be purchased for further colonies), further information is available from the Bee Diseases Insurance website (follow link under 'useful websites' page) c) members can take out an All Risks policy through the BBKA to cover damage to hives from hazards such as vandalism, falling trees, or other accident.

Network of help: We are often able to help newcomers to obtain colonies and equipment, and are always available for advice.
