Apiary Sites
|
We have two apiary sites that we use for training purposes. The Association site is located in Laverstock, Salisbury and is run by the Chairman, Graham Rendall. Graham runs a selection of different types of hives so that new beekeepers can see the benefits and drawbacks of each type of hive. The apiary is usually open once or twice a year for members to visit.

The second apiary is run by Tony Herbert, Chairman of the Salisbury Bee Breeding Group. The apiary is located in the Chalke Valley and is open to members on most Sunday mornings between May and August from 10 o'clock onwards for hands-on training in queen rearing techniques and general colony maintenance.

Tony runs 14x12 deep hives, Dartington Long Hives and has two working examples of Kenyan Top bar hives that are used for training gap-year students for beekeeping in Tanzania. He is always experimenting with new beekeeping techniques, so come along and join in the fun.
