It is now almost ten years since we
took over responsibility for running
the jazz club and we are pleased that
so many of you have continued to
support it throughout this time. Thank
you for your continued loyal support as
without it there would not be a
Salisbury Jazz Club.
The diary of events shows a number
of your favourite bands making a
welcome return visit next year plus a
first visit to this club by the ‘Max
Collie Rhythm Aces’, a band formed in
1966 and which, according to their
website, has had fewer personnel
changes than any other professional
band playing today.
Our monthly jazz events are also
advertised nationally in ‘Jazz Guide’
and ‘Just Jazz’, and locally on Forest
FM radio, in the ‘What’s On’ leaflet
published by the Salisbury district
council and on the community website at
www.southwilts.com/site/salisbury-jazz-
club/index.htm
Mainly due to the rise in petrol costs
most bands have had to increase their
fees for next year and, to ensure that
we can continue to book the best, we
will be increasing the entrance fee to
£7 with effect from January. This is
in line with neighbouring clubs at
Eastleigh and Verwood and still well
below the £10 suggested by many
musicians in the magazine ‘Just Jazz’.
Hopefully you will agree that the new
fee is still excellent value for an
evening of live jazz.
Tickets for the next session in
December with the ‘Big Bear Stompers’
have sold out but if you would like to
add your name to the waiting list for
returned tickets please let us know.
In the meantime we would like to wish
you all a very merry Christmas and
happy New Year.
Geoff and Margaret
