ALL AGE FAMILY SERVICE AT St MARY’S REDLYNCH SUNDAY 18th SEPTEMBER 2011 LETTER FROM PETER BISHOP
According to my diary, the first day of Autumn this year is on 23rd September at five past nine in the morning so our next All Age Family Worship on Sunday 18th September will be the last of the summer, and what a summer of mixed weather it has been!
On the morning of our last Family Worship Sunday the weather did not look promising for the BBQ, but when the appointed hour arrived the sun came out and we had a glorious afternoon. The BBQ was truly "All Age" from a babe in arms to some whose age it is not polite to ask.
We are indebted to John and Rosemary Hawkins who not only provided the setting of their lovely garden with space for all to use and enjoy, but for providing a generous spread of food and refreshment. Even my amateur efforts on the BBQ seemed to be well
received and nobody complained about some of the burgers that were "well done"!
It was a truly happy family occasion and I should like to use this opportunity to thank John and Rosemary on behalf of all who joined us on that day.
Veronica sent her own family to represent her as, sadly, she was temporarily incapacitated with a bad back from which we all wish her a speedy recovery.
I hope you have all by now seen my article in the September magazine and will therefore know that we will be back in St Mary's for 10.45 am on 18th when an Informal Family Service will be led by Rev Bill Rogers. I believe Bill will use this opportunity to share the ideas that we have for [i]Church in the Hall which will officially be launched on Sunday 16th October at 10.45 am.
Please do try and join us this month - and bring your friends and neighbours if you can.
With very best wishes
PETER
