The band meets about once a month - generally on the second Sunday. The practices take place in the village hall of Hale at Hatchets Green in the New Forest

The music played is mostly that appropriate for folk or social dancing. On occasion the band provides the music and a caller for dances in various locations in the Salisbury and New Forest area. Also, the band may play to accompany Christmas carols and sing-a-longs.

Instruments in the band include fiddles, accordians, concertinas, keyboard, percussion, wind instruments etc.
