Dinton is a small thriving village, which nestles on the river Nadder in the south of Wiltshire. The Parish of Dinton contains the hamlets of Baverstock to the east and Marshwood to the north.

The Nadder forms the southern village boundary with the wooded ridge of The Hanging to the north, Phillips House in Dinton Park to the west & the hamlet of Baverstock to the east.

The B3089 runs through the centre of the village. Wilton is 5 ½ miles and Salisbury 9 miles to the east, with Shaftesbury 15 miles south west.

There are about 600 villagers who enjoy the excellent facilities of:

  • St. Mary's Church
  • St. Edith's Church - Baverstock
  • Dinton Church of England Controlled Primary School
  • Dinton stores & post office
  • 2 pubs: The Wyndham Arms and The Penruddocke Arms - Baverstock
  • A large modern village hall with excellent facilities
  • A large central recreation ground
  • Several national trust properties: Phillips house, Little Clarendon, Hydes House, Dinton Lodge, & Lawes Cottage.

Many small local businesses and light industry thrive around the village.
