From the Chalke Valley Tennis Club Committee

Dear Member
Once again the new season of Tennis will begin on April 1st. We are hoping that you will be joining us. We are pleased to say that we are able to keep our subscriptions at the same rate as last year.
You should be receiving the following with this letter:-
1. Membership Form
2. Coaching details from Bruce

We are planning to continue many of the activities that were popular last year. The Mix-ins will continue to be held every week. These will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm. Don’t forget to bring your £1 towards the lighting during the dark evenings, balls and drinks are provided. This is a chance to be social as well as playing tennis. Sunday afternoon at 2.30pm is more of a Do-It-Yourself session. Go along with a friend, the key and some balls and play with any other members who have the same idea as you.
We are still hoping to encourage some morning sessions.
We shall be starting Rusty Racquets again, 7pm on Thursday evenings from the beginning of May for further details ring Martin on 780737.
Do make use of the courts in the morning and afternoon but please check with your Muga Usage Schedule that the courts are not being used by the football club, the school or for coaching. The present schedule will be changing on the 1st May. All those who can, will be receiving this by e-mail before 1st May, others may pick it up as they (re)-join.

We also hope to be repeating our very successful Breakfast Sessions in August.

Our AGM will be held on Wednesday 14th May at the C.V.S.C. Pavilion at 8.pm. Do join us for a glass of wine and nibbles to meet the committee and to put your suggestions forward. Both myself and the secretary will be standing down at the AGM and therefore it is imperative that we have some new blood on the committee.
We shall be taking orders for Wimbledon Tennis Balls on that evening (last year’s price was £12 a dozen).

Thanks to Bruce and John we shall be able to offer coaching again this year.

Bruce’s letter giving details is printed below, the following inforamtion.
Some of you may remember an e-mail that I forwarded to you from the The Wiltshire LTA inviting you to become a British Tennis Club Member. Only 4 of our club joined. Two immediate benefits are that it is free until February 2009 and it gives you another chance of winning Wimbledon Tickets. To find out more ring 0845 873 7202 or email membership@ lta.org.uk or try their web-site http://www.lta.org.uk/BritishTennismembe rship/
Remember to join us before April 21st to be able to take part in the Wimbledon Draw.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Court.
Ann Ferreira (Chairman) on behalf of the committee.

In order to gain the most from the adult and junior coaching sessions, groups will be restricted to 6 players per session, so it may be necessary to restrict the numbers of would-be players. .
Parents of juniors should be aware of the need for sun block, head cover and water on hot days.
The coaches would like to remind parents that they are responsible for bringing and collecting their children from the courts on time. The coaches will not take responsibility of the children after their coaching session.
Coaching for juniors will continue until the 24th July 2008 (inclusive). Coaching during the summer holidays can be arranged with coaches on an individual agreement and is dependant on the holiday plans of the coaches.
Boarding school players are encouraged to enquire.

Junior Tournament.

The 9th Chalke Valley Junior Tourney will be held on 28th July for Under-8s, 10s & 12s, and on the 29th and 30th July for Under-14s & Under 16s. More details of the competition will be provided closer to those dates, however please note all these dates in your diaries so that we have a good response to both the coaching and the Tourney. Youngsters who cannot attend coaching during term-time will be welcome to play in the Tourney.
